Hiking tours in the Dolomites: our tips

Exploring the extraordinary mountain world

Unique. Fascinating. Unforgettable. These are the hiking tours in the Dolomites that you can enjoy as a guest of our hotel in Valdaora/Olang. With the mountain cable cars of the Dolomite region Drei Zinnen, you can reach lofty heights, right into the middle of the fun and action. The multi-day tours are becoming increasingly popular. The Dolomite Alpine path no. 1, for example, can be hiked directly from the Alpinhotel Keil. Whether one-day or multi-day tours, you will surely enjoy fulfilling experiences. Here are our top tips for a successful holiday near the Three Peaks.

Lake Braies/Pragser Wildsee – accessible from Valdaora di Sopra/Oberolang

A very rewarding hike for those with strong legs and endurance. From Valdaora di Sopra/Oberolang, it takes about 5 to 6 hours via Malga Brusada/Brunstalm and Monte Prà della Vacca/Kühwiesenkopf to the legendary Lake Braies/Pragser Wildsee. You can easily go back by using public transport.

Lavarella and Faneshütte mountain huts – in the realm of Fanes

From San Vigilio di Marebbe/St. Vigil in Enneberg, the route leads through a unique Dolomite landscape to the two enchanting huts on the Fanes plateau. According to legend, the Dolomite queen and her followers found shelter with the marmots there – where they still wait for their salvation.

Baranci/Haunold mountain – perfect for families

Not only do the little ones love this mountain, but also mum and dad. Many attractions await families amidst lush green Alpine meadows: the new dwarf village with a high ropes course, the “Barefoot Lakes”, the Funbob, and much more.

Stiergarten – pure Alpine perfection

Where bulls once spent the summer, today hikers and bikers enjoy the view of the Three Peaks and the Sesto/Sexten sundial.

Monte Elmo/Helm – a deluxe panorama

A variety of hiking and walking trails attract numerous hiking fans. And for good reason! Families enjoy themselves in the adventure park Olperl’s Mountain World and the Kinderalm Alpine huts for kids.

Croda Rossa/Rotwand – animals and history

Numerous hiking tours in the Dolomites start here. But that’s not all: positions from the First World War take you back in time, via ferratas attract thrill-seekers, and a herd of reindeer keeps the children and adults entertained.
